Needles

February 14, 2008

Needles is in the hospital with Pneumonia.

Hugs and prayers for a quick recovery!

Claudia ND
To all:

This is Claudia's husband. She wanted me to let you know that she has unfortunately landed in the hospital and will probably be out of touch for several weeks.
She is battling  a severe case of diverticulitis. Right now she is being treated with a large amount of antibiotics, but more than likely she will need surgery in the very near future.
I will try to monitor her email periodically and relay messages and provide updates as best I can.

Regards,
Jeff

Peni Renner's father recently passed away here in ND...

Peni and her husband are making a quick trip from Maryland to ND for the service.
I would like to collect heart blocks for  Peni.....
I am sure you all remember chatting with her....she is such a fun gal.
I have been trying to get Peni back into "quilting/sewing mode"....she has been busy going to school and just finished her CNA training, just started a new job and then she got the news about her dad.
I would really appreciate it if we could make her some heart blocks....the regular ones we make...6 1/2" unfinished, on white or cream background, etching backgrounds are fine too...and be sure to sign your name and state on the front....
I will sew them together and get them off to her .
Thank you all so much........I know the blocks you all made for me REALLY mean alot.....Thanks again.

Colleen/MT

March 1

First of all - Colleen/MT is home, pretty sore (vertebra T-9, T-10, L-5 are problems but mendable) but is doing pretty well physically.  Psychologically it will take a while.

Her daughter Elena has written:

Wed. March 1 mom [Colleen] was headed to Spokane, WA with her good buddy Sandy to catch a plane to California.  Just after 6 am (dark still) they turned on a "river road" just south of Plains, Montana.  About a mile down the road out of nowhere, a 75 pound boulder the size of a microwave came off of the cliff, bounced off the highway and directly into the driver's window.  They were going the speed limit - I believe that area at dark is around 65 mph.  The force of the boulder hit Sandy (driving) in the back of the head and cut her seatbelt and she went full force into mom's lap.  She was pretty much gone in an instant.  The boulder ended up in the back seat.  Mom figured out pretty quick she no longer had a driver and couldn't move or get out of her seatbelt to drive.  She put the ignition on the setting where you still have power steering and began to ride the guardrail to try and slow down the car.  The accelerator was still stuck on go.  It took at least a 1/4 of a mile to stop.  She finally pulled the car into a post when they were about 35 mph.  (The guardrail next to the river ends not much further from where she was able to stop.)  It was at least 8 - 10 min before the first car came along - there is no cell range in the canyon - that car stopped the next and they split up to go get help.  To look at the car, there is barely a scratch where the boulder went into the window.  Most of the damage is located where the guardrail did it's damage.  When it's our time, it's our time.  Make's a person take a closer look at the important things.

Mom has a lot of bruises and her back isn't too hot.  She had glass everywhere.  Some is still surfacing on her skin.  To look at her you wouldn't know what she just went through.  Sandy's funeral is this Tuesday.

Thank you for sharing this news.  I know she would like to tell you guys herself.  She is resting/making phone calls/helping with funeral arrangements, etc.  I will see if I recognize any other email address's to send this to.  Is this the group that quilts and knows Jan in North Dakota, Lighthouse in Missouri? The people I met in Arkansas via Springfield, MO?  The lady with the parrot in Kansas?  If so, please make sure these ladies get this message.  Thanks in advance.

Elena

NEEDLES

Nov 16 update... Needles is at home resting.

Last night Needles was taken to the hospital by ambulance after Glenda phoned for police to check in on her!  They also called DH who met them at the hospital.  Something in Glenda's conversation on the phone with Needles caused her to take this action.  At this time, we are not clear on the problems, Needles is undergoing tests, and has an infected colon.  She also had a very terrible cough.  We will update this as soon as we know more.

MM recovering too!

February 2005

MM is recovering from injuries she sustained last summer and fall!  Still in a neck brace at the beginning of February, she is looking forward to having it off hopefully mid-month!  A steel plate, 4 screws and a new disc were all a part of her surgery to help get her back on track.   Super hugggggs your way MM!!  And get rid of that flu and cold too!

Glenda - slips on ice!

-  send heart squares 6 1/2" unfinished

January 2005.. Glenda-OR

Glenda was leaving DD's home and miss-stepped while going down the porch steps...steps are only 6" risers but she fell on her right side and cracked her right shoulder in the thick bone area, AND cracked her right leg (femur bone) just below the knee.  Both of these areas are not able to be cast so she's only bound and she MUST lie still to prevent possible surgery in the future.

Glenda will be laid up for awhile and at this time it's looking like they will put her in a rehab center to get her back into action...after the bones heal?  LUCKILY it was not her hip!  She WILL be able to walk again.  She's just really bummed.  DD Susan has requested SNAIL MAIL get well cards.  Contact GAquiltR for the address - or check the FS chat room, or the Yahoo group site.  Glenda may not be chatting for some time - so the old fashioned handwriting is encouraged.

Cards and heart blocks to Glenda.  Let her play with the heart blocks as she mends.  It's shower Glenda time!  Remember, cream on cream background, any color heart, any pattern heart, 6 1/2" UNfinished, and signed.

Please forward any warm hearts to either GAquiltR our  Warm Hearts Director or Webmaster@AutomatedQuill.com.
