President's Message
September is here and October will soon be upon us. October means elections, so now is the time for nominations! There will be vacancies for the following positions: Comfort/Charity, Membership and Secret Sisters. Any member on the roster is entitled to run for any position - vacant or not. Organizations become revitalized through this process. So, if you or anyone you know has an interest, contact Spacer/OR or Polly/TX.
September 1 to October 31, 2005 will be the START of our 10th Anniversary Year Celebrations. We will be having a Comfort/Charity Bonanza! The grand prizes will be Opportunity Quilts made from Auntie Grace fabrics, set with snowball blocks and nine patches. See more details in the newsletter!
It has been suggested that we change our Comfort/Charity program. We have four regional Comfort/Charity Antlers. What we would like to do is take our stash and divide it equally among them and have them as distribution centers for our RPLOTN quilters. They would be able to distribute to their region - fabrics, batting, backing material - to those who need it for a Charity/Comfort quilt, pillow cases, Comfort Pillows or any item. They would be able to cut down on the cost of mailing and spread our Comfort to more people. This will be discussed at the September meeting.
Also, this will be a great way to carry on the Charity Bonanza throughout the year of our 10th Anniversary Celebration.
I have written this on the road from Jasper to Edmonton and now handing it to Smoky. We are having a wonderful vacation and would like to say HI from the Canadian Rockies and soon to be back in the USA visiting the U.S. Rockies.
