I'm going to hostess a 9" nine-patch swap. I am doing a nine-patch so
everyone will feel it is something they can handle.
Pick a fabric which represents your area. For instance, since I live on the
Oregon coast, I might pick something like ocean, fish, or trees.
Pick a second fabric in the ecru to light tan tone-on-tone range. All fabric
must be good quality 100% cotton, prewashed. If it runs, don't use it.
Cut 3 1/2" squares, five of the theme fabric and four of the background
fabric. The theme fabric goes in the four corners and the center. The
ecru fabric fills in the other squares.
Sew with a scant 1/4" seam. When you are done, check your blocks and
make sure they are 9 1/2" unfinished.
I will sign up groups of 12 so you will need to make 12 blocks and will receive 11
different blocks in return (You only need to send in 11 blocks and keep one for
yourself.). If you want to be in more than one group, let me know but for
each group you are in, you will need to do a different fabric.
Pack each set of blocks in a separate zip-lock bag with you name attached to each
block so everyone will know who their blocks are from.
If you have any questions contact me at quiltinspace@netscape.net.
