MORE Show and Tell!!

qD has been busy lately too!!

GAquiltR, Eb and Bun with a warm hearts quilt..

This was for my local guild in Enfield Connecticut.  We made a total of 52 quilts from twin size down to crib size for the Safe House.  These photos are the accumulation of the quilts at CYN/CT's house.  She was the project manager for the guild.

This is a the quilt I made and donated to this cause.  It was an Oklahoma Road Pattern,  a class I took in Florida back in 2003.  If I had realized what the pattern was to be I would have changed the colors, but it is done and some deserving youngster will receive it.

This quilt will be given to the Connecticut Children's Hospital Auxiliary for there auction in October.

In this quilt, the blocks are from our charity bank when LS was Charity Lady.  For the quilting on this I did total bobbin work with bobbin work for the embroidery as well as the feathered stitches on the outline.  I thought and thought on how can I do this when the quilt was layered and then behold it came to me.  Do a basting stitch from the top and then turn over and do the design.

Here is a picture of us at John C Campbell Folk School, March 25.  We attended a week-long quilt class & this was the last evening, at students exhibit.  We are holding a WH that we made & left in the social room of our dorm as a gift to the school.

OK, I remembered the baby bag is finished.  I had taken the class to learn the technique.  The class fee included the mechanism* that holds the bag open or closed (the photo shows it open).  The pattern is called a purse, but the mechanism comes in sizes from tiny (cosmetic) to big (tote), so I used two cute kids fabrics (bears on the outside, bugs on the inside, as the trim, and the straps) that I quilted together before the class. The class lasted three hours and the bag was complete at the end of it.  I don't have any particular baby in mind, so I will hang onto it for awhile.

* It's called the hex open mechanism and is only available from this site:

It's been ages since I finished anything

so I should announce it proudly!
