The Showers Brought Flowers!

President's Message

May Day Basket Full of Friends

I said in my last message I would report on the plantings of friendship with April Showers.

I was able to attend the Sewing and Quilting Expo in Worcester, MA on April 15th with fellow RPLOTN Member Cyn/CT. We got to meet our wonderful TY/TX and of course purchase lots of fabric, patterns and notions to plant the seeds for future quilts and wearable items. We had a lovely visit with Ty and her boss Veronica. Veronica is just a wonderful person, full of vitality and lots of fun, and gives a good lecture. But Ty is the sweetheart, she showed a couple of useful tips in using items they sell, and, well, yes, we bought them. Good Sales job Ty.  Another trip with my local guild headed for a fun day at Keepsake Quilt Shop in New Hampshire. We all met early a.m. on Sat April 23rd and headed north to the shop.  We had fun on the bus ride - talking, sharing ideas and napping too, but once we arrived at the shop we shopped till we dropped.  Some took in the Knitting shop next door as well as the Needle Works shop and others went wandering through heavy rains to craft shops nearby.  In all the bus total spent at Keepsake was $4,300.00.  There were a total of 46 people on this trip.  Again, the blossoms of flowers are building new friendships through quilting.  We all shared in showing and telling what we would do with our purchases and gave advice while shopping and sharing ideas, helping each out with their bolts of fabric, or just sitting in awe of so much stuff.

Meeting members of RPLOTN is a wonderful and rewarding experience and I know that lots of you already have met many members.  It is so encouraging to know that through this quilt guild we have members from all over the world and that we are here to support and encourage all in quilting, sharing ideas and have laughs and cries when needed.

Mother’s Day

That brings us to Mother’s Day.  Our hearts goes out to each and every one of you who have lost your mother and for those who still have that person who brought us into the world.  My mother’s just turned 80 years young and though I don’t live close to her, I cherish her for teaching many important things in life.  Like being there for others in times of need, sharing with others, being respectful of others and give as much as we can; we do that with our children and we hope they will follow in our footsteps.

I want to wish every Mother a very Happy Mother’s Day and may you get everything you want

Memorial Day

The end of the month we (in the USA)  honor those who have gone on to their great reward.  We honor those who have served their Country in giving us freedom, living life to the fullest and giving us all strength to deal with the way the world turns.  I have lost my father, a dear sister, a son and many other relatives, but I have also lost many dear quilting friends over the past 15 years, some here in the room.  You may all remember our dear Terry/MI.  She was a hoot and was always there to share with us.  I am sure you all will say a little prayer for all those who have gone on to make the big quilting room available for all of us to share.  And that you all will remember to give something of yourselves to anyone one in need for help.  There are many of members that are going through difficult times with elderly parents, sick children or grandchildren, lonely people who need to chat.  They all need hugs and that is what I am giving you all a GREAT BIG ((((((((((((((((((((((((RPLOTN MEMBERS AND FABRIC STASH))))))))))))))).

Purple Hugs.
