The month of March, “Comes in like a
lion, and out like a lamb”, and this month is full of holidays.
The first is the “Ides of March”, beware don’t stab the wrong piece of fabric for that appliqué or cut that strip the wrong size, - look what happen to Caesar! Then we will wear the Green on March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day, and share our Irish jokes and stories - even indulge in Irish brews or possibly Irish Soda Bread, Corned Beef and Cabbage. But think of the lovely St. Patrick’s Day table runner, or even the Irish Chain as a possible quilt to give to someone in need. That is comfort for all of us. National Quilting Day on March 19th, the most important day to all quilters’, and by the way that is our Party Day. What better way to have a party but on our Day! I hope all will participate with your local guilds, sewing circles and stores and make it a great Day and do come to our party. We had over 50 last month, so let’s make this party even better. Of course, the day after our Party is the start of Spring, and I know that we are all looking forward to starting our flowerbeds, vegetable gardens and being outdoors. Again, our theme this month is “Spring, Springy, Spring” and we should all think about making a comfort quilt to give to someone who needs it. Then we come to the end of the Month, and as I said in the beginning, “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb”. This is an important holiday for us. It's Easter, for some an important religious holiday. And for all of us a time for colorful baskets, bunnies with colored eggs, chicks, ducks, and a time when pretty hats and dresses are worn. This is the time to think about what we have endured during the winter and be grateful that the warmth is returning. This is a time for all of us here in Chat to be thankful that we have each other for support. We are growing and developing as we quilt, we have helped many with their losses, we are donating quilts to many organizations, we are always here for anyone who has questions, needs support through times of sorrow, health or just to be friends. May this month bring something to everyone. Bless you all! quiltDonalyn/President
