President's Address to the World

Being a President of an Internet online quilt guild is not the easiest job - Just ask those who have held this position. In fact, I've about concluded it just can't be done without the help of the membership: they can help all officers and representatives of this guild to make it work. We all need support from the membership, not just chatting, being friends, doing swaps or challenges or even doing charity work. We all need help once in a while to make things right. We give support to the entire world in this guild, so let’s start the New Year off with a big bang and make this the best online quilt guild in the whole world. So, how do we do this? We can start by having a fantastic group of ladies in chat, morning, and noon, afternoon and evening, even after midnight if you wish. We all have made many friends in the chat room and hope to make lots more before our time is up (hopefully, mine is for a long time). We have get togethers in Texas, Pacific Northwest, The East and some do in the West and South. These ladies meet with those they've chatted with and now become good friends, there to help and give comfort and support when needed, not just to those they have met personally, but to those they have not met yet. Another important item is to come together in supporting our guild. We need to get involved in swaps, challenges, and charity. Over the years RPLOTN has donated numerous quilts to all kinds of organizations and those in need, such as the Montana Fires, 9/11, Quilts of Valor, the homeless, safe houses, children's hospitals, etc. Let's continue to do this. To facilitate this activity we now have regional ladies for Charity. If you know of a cause and want to help out a charity, contact them. They will be glad to get you started and help with the donations of fabric, blocks, batting, etc. Remember Charity begin with the home, heart and caring. So let's give to those not so fortunate. Our swaps are off and running. Last Fall Spacer/Or had a nine patch swap and ended up with at least 20 people. Now those of us in that swap have at least 20 blocks to make quilts with; yes, they are UFO's right now, but soon they will be made into loving quilts or possibly a vest, jacket, skirt or such. I know that my blocks will be made into quilts for charity. The Morning Group, the Cuppas are doing a challenge of Table Runners with a Valentine theme, and several of our RPLOTN members are participating. What a wonderful way to use up some of that stash we have and have the lovely photos in our newsletter, or maybe a site on our own web site of all the table runners. They are now planning for a Spring Theme, so why not join them in this adventure? Their invitation is on the FS BB. Again, this makes friends and that is so important in keeping this group together. Friendship is forever and when one needs the support of a shoulder to cry on or share happiness we at RPLOTN are here to help. We also now have a web site where everything about RPLOTN is found, from joining to become a member to our newsletter, to charity information, swaps, challenges, and lots more to come. We are growing and have several new members, and we have monthly parties with door prizes. Come in for the fun, win a door prize, and make more new friends. The Board is here to help all and the only way we can do this is for you all to let us know what you want to do. Tell us - we won't bite, but we will do the best we can to make this the Greatest Chat Room and Online Quilt Guild possible. So let's start this New Year off with a Bang! Let’s all come in to our meetings. Our chat room is 24/7, so let's start it off with lots of sharing, caring and support.
