Magicat finishes some UFO's !!.....

African Convergence FrontI ordered Ricky Timms' book last summer and decided to try out the technique with fabric from my stash before spending $$$ on special yardage.  The first piece, African Convergence, was made with 2 authentic prints I had bought years ago on a whim and then didn't know what to do with.  The pieced top sat on the shelf for a couple months before I added the spirals. In the meantime, I began the second, using four bold colored prints.  Half way through, I decided I didn't like it.  The strips hung on my flannel board for months  and my DH kept asking what I was going to do about it.  He said that HE liked it even if I didn't, so I said after Christmas I would finish it for him.

Then a serendipitous stop at JoAnne's on the way to my mom's for Christmas gave me the perfect backing fabric for the African quilt so I vowed to finish that one too.

And so I did!

Phyllis/FL & her Feathered Star quilt, made at Borderline Quilt Camp, Aug 2003....

This was a class Terry and I took at the Borderline Quilt Camp in Upper New York.

Not only did Terry and I have a great time at class, this was a quilt top my husband said we needed to use, so it is my quilt topper in our motorhome that we spend about 5 months out of the year in.

This is a photo of the front and the back of my reversible quilt as you go quilt.

The starflower side is the front and the linear side is the back.

Needles makes the cutest cuddlies.....

Needles made this bear for her DD. There are pearls and sequins all over the dress.

The bouquet matches  the one her DD carried.

Wendy, aka Sara-ON sends in a "snapshot" of her world....

It’s been a busy month in my household, adding my long arm to my life ...  and the life of my daughters -  it sure takes up a significant part of the living room while I wait to finish my studio!

The first pic is of my daughter Katie who can’t wait to start using the longarm, she's quite proficient on the domestic machine. (She’s my little sales girl)

This picture I took on Dec. 26 of my deck showing the snow accumulation so far, I love the way the stars show up.

A panel I used for practice, it’s all freehand.

This is my Data dude who needs to be near me no matter what I’m doing.

Here are the men in my life.  Mikey and Data.  They are protecting us from the squirrels in this shot.

Construction of a studio - for the longarm!

My studio is now painted a pretty butter yellow, and the girls have painted their room behind it half piglet pink, that’s the same dark pink on the Barbie boxes, and then tigger orange.   It's a very intense bedroom LOL but it has a door LOL.  I thought the yellow would be more uplifting.

The electrician is coming tonight, VBG, and I'm hoping to have the whole project finished in a couple of weeks and then my new baby (longarm) will have her home.

JO-IN's busy finishing off more projects!!

This is a "Mystery Row Quilt".  Made it several years ago from either Traditional Quiltmaker or Quiltmaking Today magazine.  Pieced the top, sent it off to be hand quilted by a gal in Arkansas and got it back.  Folded it up and put it away.  Decided to do a bit more holiday decorating this year and got it out and hung it up.

Heart in Four Corners.

This quilt is that it was part of a challenge from qD's home guild in Enfield CT.  It was started in about 1994.  All the colors from the challenge fabric except the white were to be used and we could add up to three more colors and we could take away one color.  qD used all of the challenge fabric and one color - only the white.  It is hand appliquéd and then machine quilted by me.  When she arrived here in Florida this year ('05), she started the machine quilting of it  - on January 3rd and had it done and bound on January 5th.  The first UFO for the year completed and done..... well it only took 11 years.
What do you think of that!!

Annie/TX and DH headed to Cabo San Lucas for a quick break in January.....Click on Flying Pooh Bear!!
