August SHOW AND TELL !!

Lost BerryPicker - sewing for a cause....

August 2005

My husband and I attended a conference to get updates on research for his illness.  These are dolls I made that were auctioned off at the conference.  The picture is of the dolls and the lady from Canada who bought them.

I also made dolls for the community group to put in a silent auction to raise money for their community group.

The center person is granddaughter Kathryn who was in a community play of Raggedy Ann and Andy.  The girls are witches minions.

I taught my 9yr old Grandson Kevin how to sew by hand, then  by machine, using both the embroidery and sewing machine and he used the serger too!  Here are the photos of his creation of a pillowcase.  Pretty good for a young lad!

We started on the 5th of July and finished it on August 2nd.

He is so proud of it and said I will use it as decoration for my bed.

At the same time I was teaching Kevin, I also taught his sister LisaLyn, age 5 to make her first quilt.  She learned to sew the squares by hand and then she used the sewing machine, my Old Singer called the Genie to add the sashings and borders.  Then  we layered and sewed around and pulled it inside out and viola her first quilt.  She is now going to school this fall and said, Grannie, I'm taking my quilt to school for Show and Tell.

So I have now taught 7 Grandchildren to sew and still have one to go, the baby is only 2 so have a few years before I can teach him.
