MORE Show and Tell!!

JO-In is a busy stitcher - what wonderful work and an inspiration!

This is a "Scrapbook Wall Quilt" I made for my sister Mona.  She has visited us in the chat room on occasion as "MonaMN".  Mona sews and mainly makes charity quilts.  The butterfly is embroidered on water soluble stabilizer, then trimmed and attached.  The ruler is from Kaye Wood booth at a quilt show.  The heart is a metal button; there are two stick-on type decorations - Las Vegas and playing cards - Mona and her DH love to go to LV.  The lace doily just "looks antique" and the star on it is a hand pieced quilt block which is truly antique.  The sewing machine is a button and the "I Love To Quilt" was printed on the selvage of the fabric I used for the border.  Mona has a dedicated room for sewing, so I'm hoping she will find a space for it on one of the walls

This is a close up of Mona's Scrapbook quilt.  The four little girls are Me (bad hair day at age 5?)  Sisters Mona, Karen and Amy kneeling in the back

Another close up of Mona's scrapbook quilt.  This quilt measures approximately 15 x 18"

I made this for my sister Amy.  The border fabric is a Shar Jorgenson design, Age of Innocence.  Antique postcards depicting holidays.  The heart and butterfly are machine embroidered on water soluble stabilizer, trimmed and attached.  The butterfly has crystal beads on the body area; the butterfly is attached only in body area and the wings are "fluttering".  I used the same photo for Amy's quilt as I did for Mona's quilt.

I had copies of the pictures made, then attached picture to paper background with spray glue used for scrapbooking and then sewed around the edge of the paper with buttonhole stitch to attach to the quilt.  The hanky in the lower left is a fourth of an antique, hand made hanky and is attached with a brooch look button.  Amy is a scrapbooking gal so I used a mulberry paper tag with fern and flower stickers and attached it with the variegated ribbon.

  Size is approximately 15 x 18".

Close up - isn't the border fabric just too gorgeous?  Only bought an FQ - wish I had the bolt!  LOL

Another close up of Amy's quilt - the postcards are Christmas, Easter, Happy Birthday and Happy New Year - delicious fabric.  The heart uses different stitches and the light shining on it just makes it sparkle and accents the many stitches.
