· If a girl shakes a new quilt out the front door, the first man who enters, will be her husband. · If an unmarried girl put the last stitch on a quilt, she will be an old maid. · If the thread breaks, it will bring bad fortune. · Shaking the Cat: A cat would be placed on a finished quilt, and four girls would grasp the edges and shake it. When the cat jumps out, the girl closest to the cat, would be the next to marry. · Never begin a quilt on Friday. · Never quilt at all on Sundays. · Quilts should incorporate a deliberate flaw on the color or on the pattern, to remind us that only God can make perfect objects. · Sleep under a new quilt and your dreams will come true. |
