                         President's Message

Hello All Members of RPLOTN !!

First I want to thank you all for the opportunity to be your guild president and thank you to those who voted for me.  I am looking forward to this next year of working with the board of RPLOTN and all the members of the guild. I welcome your ideas and input into our projects as well as sharing pictures and stories of the quilts and other projects we are all working on.

I also hope that our Antler program is very productive and for that to happen we all need to make blocks to send to the Antler in your area. Please let your Antler know that you will help make blocks and also keep in mind to let them know when there is a need for a charity quilt.

I want RPLOTN On-Line Quilt Guild to be a fun group and foster our love for quilting. I look forward to getting to know each of you a little better and hope we call all help make this a fun and busy year.

For my first message to you I would like to tell you a little about myself and my love of quilting.
I live in a small town just north of Fargo, North Dakota.....as far as I know I am the only member of RPLOTN from North Dakota. I know we have some members pretty close by in Minnesota.
I am married to Jeff and Jeff's mother lives with us in our "Mother-in-law" apartment attached to our house.
We have one daughter, a son-in-law and their two boys.
There, now you have met my WHOLE family. Well.........except for our 7 cats and 1 dog.
All our animals are adopted strays, feral cats and the dog is from the humane society. So our house is very active and full of hair!! And I am sure you will all get a chance to see all my animals......cause I like to take pictures of them !!

I started sewing when I was in the 4th grade in 4-H and by 7th grade I was sewing own my school clothes. I sewed my wedding dress and many bridesmaid dresses over the years. I have always loved quilts and knew someday that I would like to make quilts !! I started quilting in about 1976 and have collected quilt magazines and fabric ever since. I must tell you though.......I am a process person NOT a project person, so I do have many UFO's.

My Grandmother was a professional seamstress, I have a great picture that I will share with you one day. Both my grandmothers would sew, knit and do other needlework...and my Grandmother taught me sewing and knitting and I just grew up thinking that you were supposed to learn how to do all those things. Both my Grandmothers made quilts and I do have some of the quilts they made.....of course I thought everybody made quilts and had lots of quilts......and you used all the quilts so most of them just wore out. Now the ones I have are very precious to me even though they are not fancy quilts.

Enough of my rambling for now..........THANK YOU AGAIN for the opportunity to be your new guild president and I am looking forward to serving you.

Thank you,
Claudia ND
