Our son Robb and his wife Carla are adopting a daughter from China, our first grandchild.  They have been married 14 years and have not be able to conceive.  We all are waiting for the referral.  They hope to be traveling to China this summer to bring home a baby daughter whom they have already named Krystani An.

One  of the many  traditions they have in China is to  make a quilt called Bai Jia Bei {100 Good Wishes Quilt}. (click on the 100 Good Wishes to check out a web site of information).

It is a custom to ask friends and family and new friends to be if they would contribute a patch of Quilt material with a wish for the new baby.  Part of the cloth goes into the Quilt and part into her creative Memory Book.

We would  like anyone who would like to take part to send a 10" square - or a fat eighth) of quilt material along with a 3 x5 card or just a card with a Wish for the New Baby.  The fabric need not be "child" fabric - but a quilting cotton fabric pattern that means something in your world.  It is your way of adding to Krystani An's world.

The note card can be a Wish, Prayer or thought or Poem or Quote of your family.  Your note can be simple or elaborate as you like, it can be deep thought provoking or something simple and fun, like wish for a lifetime of great hair.  These cards and a piece of cloth will be put in her 100 wishes quilt book to go with the quilt.  Please, if you wish sign your name and address then we can send a Big Thank you and her picture.

Please send your fat eighth and your Wish Card to:

Lighthouse updates us with her world.. and the Lighthouse quilt she received from RPLOTN .....

     hey Smoky!

Sorry for the delayed response to your email... Life has landed on me like a dumptruck of potatoes!

Yes, we do, OF COURSE!, have the Lighthouse quilt!!!  In fact, it got it's first public "showing" at the March 25, 2006 quilt show in Aurora, MO -- the first opportunity that I've had to display it to the world!  :- )   It captured a huge amount of interest and generated  WONDERFUL comments!  i.e., positive attributes of "the internet!"

Unfortunately, I was not able to get a picture of it while it was hanging -- was far too involved that day to get meaningful pictures of anything/anybody.  Marge-Ark and her DH came for the show -- Margie displayed 6 quilts ... half of which received "Viewer's Choice" votes!!   :- )

hugs,

Dee....aka Lighthouse-MO
