The following article was in my local quilt guild's newsletter. It
says it all and since a New Year is beginning maybe we should all take a step back and
reflect on these fantastic qualities. Let's make this the best year for the Royal
Purple Ladies of the Night. It is, after all, our 10th Year.
Please join in the fun of sharing with others, join in the swaps, and make the lotto
blocks that will be going to charity. Please attend the meetings - they are for you - and
please remember to come back in to chat. Ed has been working on the site, he is here
for us and we wouldn't know each other without him.
So "Thank You" Ed, for giving us a chance to chat, quilt and be with friends new and old. |

7 Virtues of Quilting
The love of quilting is contagious and quiltmakers around the globe share an unprecedented
enthusiasm, which yields a life of bliss. Whether you are making a baby quilt, wedding
quilt, or a rag quilt you can practice the 7 heavenly virtues and experience what life
should be like for everyone. Every time you share your knowledge with another person your
quilt angels sing in rejoice.
Faith—a strongly held belief in the power of quilting to bring joy into the
universe. By sharing your knowledge with others, your faith grows and influences
everyone around you. Your faith, dedication, and belief is rewarded with perfect
points in your patchwork piecing while you listen to
Hope—a feeling and belief that something good may happen while you stitch in prayer. Every quilt you piece and finish quilting is actualized joy! Because you embrace hope you will be honored for the fabulous quilts you share with the world, while getting the massage of your life.
Charity—a devotion to sharing your fiber arts with others out of a concern for
others. Millions of people throughout the world have been touched by the kindness of
quilters for their charitable efforts. The happiness their quilts have brought people when
hope was restored by right action is immeasurable. Your charity is considered your
strongest asset and its bounty is millions of hugs and kisses from quilters around the
world.
Fortitude—a commitment to never giving up on any quilt project. Every UFO
needs a home. Just think how sad it would be to visit the island of misfit quilts,
home to all the unwanted, tattered, and unwanted quilts. Every time you finish a quilt you
make a statement to the world about your character and grow from the experience. Through
your strength and will to finish your work everyone is awe struck by your fortitude
and your wealth of knowledge and know-how, which gets you countless blue-ribbons and
accolades from those you look up to and respect.
Justice—a dedicated quilter is fair and equitable with every quilt. As we
start out on making a new quilt we try to put the same amount of energy and thought into
the new quilt as we have with previous ones. Quilt justice is rewarded by
consistent quilt stitches and creativity which rivals
Prudence—a concern for handling money with moderation and responsibility.
Most people can't handle money like quilters can! If there is a bargain to be had we will
find it. In fact every time Liz and I teach a class or give a lecture for a quilt guild we
are amazed at how resourceful quilters are. We have learned more from quilters about how
to use money wisely than from economists. Prudence's prize is evident by our
ability to shop more and have fun trying to stretch a dollar, while quilting in paradise
being served by those we love.
Temperance—a keen ability of self-restraint and avoidance of excessiveness.
Quilters know!
Through moderation quilters practice temperance and receive balance and bliss in
their lives, while making masterpiece quilts that make them immortal.
If practiced everyday quilters will achieve greatness and make worthwhile contributions to
the world. Inspiration and strength is our gift to everyone who gazes upon our patchwork
wonders. Happy quilting and please share your thoughts.
