President's Message
In the USA, Valentine’s Day is followed by the long weekend of President’s Day. What do other countries do? Is anytime set aside to honor past national leaders?
Here in the USA lots of us travel to warm places from the north, to soak up the sun and may even be able to attend quilt shows, or guild meetings or just going to quilt shops to buy more fabric for our forever stash. Others travel to the north for skiing, and also are able to lie under those lovely quilts to keep them warm. They also might tackle a few quilt shops, gather together with others at a guild meeting or just take in the glory they are having and come home with ideas for more quilts to be made.
RPLOTN is a guild of much diversity; we chat in the morning and the evening. There are even some of us who chat in the afternoons. We are there to help those who have had losses of loved ones; we send heart blocks to those in need. We have swaps and secret sisters. We have lotto blocks and orphan blocks that we send to our Antler’s. They in return send to those who want to donate a quilt to a charity of their choice. We work together as a sisterhood, willing to share and give something of ourselves.
We are an international quild with many members from other countries and we love to hear what the others are doing around the world, in making it a better place to live. We all want Peace, Joy and Happiness and the only way to do it, is to share, give of ourselves, and do away with the pettiness of others.
This is the month for love, a time to put aside differences and share our love for quilting; by giving to those who don’t have, by giving support to those that need it and by giving everyone a chance to do some good. I believe this guild will be here forever, as many others have told me so. To make this guild work, please participate; if you have questions or concerns then come to the meetings. If you want to give then make lotto blocks or send those orphan blocks (better known as UFO’s) to an Antler, they will see that they get to someone who will enjoy making that quilt and giving to someone in need. If you want friendship, join the Secret Sister Program, I have made some wonderful friends for life in being a secret sister. Or do the swap; you will make new friends there. Or just come into chat and chat, that is where this guild started 10 years ago and we are still chatting and making friends for life.
My wish for this month is Joy, Happiness and Peace, among all of the entire World and us.
