The Hot Hot Summer of 2006 |

I am sure everyone has had enough of the Heat of
2006. This has been one of the hottest summers in years and the temps are still
boiling higher. As I sit here in my small study with a fan going, the temps are rising
to a high again in the 90’s, but then I start thinking, some of you live in areas
where 113 is normal during this time of year. What is normal, a nice temperature of 82
with a cool breeze ? That is what I would like to see, but seems like Global Warming
is happening.
What I would like to see here for our guild, is working together. I dream of everyone getting along, not smacking another upside the head, but encouraging everyone to come to chat, to help make lotto blocks and charity quilts, to work together as a group of ladies from around the world. Can’t we all share and do good together? Why is it always two or three people who start nasty comments to people who are doing what they have been elected to do. Work for the guild, that is what I am doing. I try very hard to let the mudslinging go past me, I work to bring more people in chat, I started several swaps this year and lots of members have participated. We are getting ready for elections in October. If you wish to run for any office then please contact one of the members of the Board. We need volunteers for a nominating committee. We need people to take office to continue this wonderful charity related guild. We need input from members who would like to hold an office but are afraid, cause they think someone will yell at them or say something hurtful. So when you read this message, remember a few things: Be courteous in chat with everyone. Be able to commit to a good cause. Be a friend to all in RPLOTN. Don’t ridicule others, they are in chat to meet and do some good. Don’t post notes or comments without attaching your real email address or chat name on the Fabric-Stash Site Bulletin Board. That is not being supportive or courteous, it is being rude. Do come to meetings, they are posted on the website - www.rplotn.com Remember to read the newsletter and send any kind of information to the Newsletter Editor. She will be glad to post it. If you have a problem, then be sure to be at the meetings, that is where you can bring up the problem and maybe solve it. The last item is that this guild will not close down unless a majority of members vote to close down and that the treasury will be distributed to causes voted by the membership. So if you have a cause, or if you wish to run for office show up at the next meeting on August 8th, we will be glad to add you to the Voting List come October or maybe help your cause. Now that I have let off a little steam, I wish you all a peaceful, cooler and productive summer. Purple Hugs, quiltDonalyn
