Memories....

Smoky looks back to 1997.....  back then, she was oz/edm...and a regular in the chat room.   Having just left a large volunteer organization, Lez was wandering around the internet one evening - and did a search on "quilting" - and came across the Fabric Stash web pages.  What a wonderful surprise to find other ladies who could only chat in the evening after their kids were in bed, and who also loved to quilt and chat!!

As a result - many projects and now this newsletter have taken over her world......

Imp's Blue and White Swap

Back in 1997 Imp organized a block swap - the rules were blue and white, but NOT Christmas.... so ... from left to right, top to bottom..

Janie/Alaska's Round Robin 1998

With such great success at meeting new people with the swap, Lez decided to go with the round robin being organized by "Janie/Alaska".  It turned out to have 36 people interested - so she divided it into 3 different groupings.  I ended up in a group with Cathy Gallant CA, Michelle in Spokane, Colleen MT, Andrea NS (my Canadian counterpart!), Cookie Noel, Marianne Anfuso, Lucy Radatz (the chicken fabric lady), Deb Clem, Diane Stavola, Kim DeBona, Sharon (now motorcycle momma Morrison).  12 ladies, 12 months to make a quilt top.  I have photos of most of the quilt tops, some have actually been quilted!  (but not mine yet! talk about a UFO!).

" It is SO ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!  I have said Thank you before - but THANK YOU again!!"  Lez.

The other groups were designated as of November 1997.  I suspect that they changed a little before the squares left their homes, and some people have changed their names, but what I have is:  Group 1:  Alecia Knox, Elizabeth Eriswell, Polly Trant, Linda Campbell, Rebecca Olson, Jackie Maunier, Barbara Hrenchir, Peggy Michel, Julie Sanquist, Peggy Runyan, Frankie Weber (aka Janie/Alaska our hostess), Caroljoy Spensley.  Group 2 was the one I was in, and Group 3: Patti Martin, Jan Bernal, Virginia Cole, Penny Casper, Shannon Royer, Mary Beth Hallahan, Faith McLeod, Anne Robinson, Marla Jacobson, Lorna Cordrey, Charmaine Phipps Smith, Lili Bower, Susan Moses-Janvik.

Any and all stories about your rounds would be appreciated for the newsletter!!  If you keep in touch with any of these folk, get them to check out our newsletter!!

Lez with her NEW sewing room!!

1999

Well - having had success with our round robin, the Stitch Miesters decided to work on another round together!!  This one started out by packing your fabrics in a box - with a "theme" noted - but no square started... the first person to receive the square was to start the theme.  Lez and DH were in the middle of home renos and the girls were aware that a new sewing room was in the reno.... so they helped along!!  I still need to add the shelving unit to the right of the sewing machine.. and I have the idea in mind... just need to get the butt in gear!!

Next month..... The MILLENIUM  - and the RPLOTN projects including a trip to HOUSTON!
