BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 13, 2007

Attendees: Needles, Clauia, Kay, GAQuiltR, Glenda, Lost, qD, Yoyo, Smoky, Ed.

The log started part way into the meeting.  Up to that point:

Claudia has a receipt for the girl who sent 12 quilts.  She will send a personal cheque to her and get the funds back.  Smoky suggested Claudia send the details of payment to Kay and Kay can send the cheque directly to the quilter.

Needles suggested the Secretary/Treasurer position be combined.  Good idea if we can find someone to do them.  Needles noted that qD has offered.  Smoky checked bylaws, nothing states the positions cannot be combined.  Smoky moved "We post the combined position of secretary/treasurer for the upcoming year".  GA 2nd.  Motion Passed.

qD had asked Claudia if Smoky has the Brown Bag details from last time and get them posted for sign up.   Smoky will find and set up.  Brown Bag revelation will be March 15 - St. Patrick's Day - and National Quilting Day!

Claudia and Needles had discussed that we send all the quilts they have received to the lady in Greensburg.   Claudia will not be able to go.

Needles says to send remaining quilts to her.

<Claudia> I am going to get in touch with the other gal in KC , that I have been talking to.......she has some quilts......Can we pay for the shipping if she sends those?

<Claudia> Yes, Dottie sent me 2 quilt tops.

<Needles-VP> Sharon is in Witchita which she is about 1 1/2 from Greensburg

<Needles-VP> And I am 2 1/2 hours from Greensburg the other way

<Smoky> we have $2000 in the treasury - so can afford shipping

<Needles-VP> Yes will get ahold of her and see if she would like to be a representative.

<Claudia> Are you talking right now ?.....or taking a couple weeks to organize and ship.......cause I got "shorted on my quilting time" with spending 5 days in the hospital.......so I could use a little time to finish up.

<Needles-VP> You know you all just barely had me here tonight as I thought my doctor was going to put me in the hospital today.

<Needles-VP> He just caught my bronticis just in time before it got really bad.

<Claudia> Are we thinking we are going to continue to sew for another couple weeks then ?

<Claudia> I am hoping that the Dr will give me a couple weeks at home and then do the surgery.......but I wont know till tomorrow

<Needles-VP> Yes I thought may be the middle of October if that is okay with the rest of you ladies.

<quiltDonalyn-SSS> I would recommend that you all sew for the next three weeks, and then plan for the end of October for the delivery of the quilts

<Needles-VP> That way if anyone wants to make a quilt they can do so and send them to me or to Claudia

<Lighthouse-MO4afew> okay... I have a issue that I am dealing with--2 yrs. ago RPLOTN donated a baby quilt for the Aurora Church to sell at the show and help rraise money. Two years it hasn't sold ... after this yr's show when the displays came down I wasn't there and a lady took it home. I am trying to recapture it and donate to Greensburg... but can't get my hands on it yet!!!!!

<Needles-VP> The lady I bought my sewing machine from is going to let me use her long arm to do the quilts for Greensburg and then I will be able to learn how to use my John Flynn Quilt Frame. The lady is not even going to charge me for the use of her LA She said since they are for charity she will teach me how to use her machine

<ClaudiaND-Pres> So I will be emailing the ones again who have said they had quilts.....and I will also be contacting another gal in KS who was an EMT in Greensburg....she was going to try and collect some quilts.

You send to me a self addressed envelope inside the envelope with the FQ's, I send your FQ's to another person and they have to make somethig out them using as much fabric of their's that they want to and then send to you. We had about 10 participates last year and I believe you can still see some of the items in old newsletter posted on www.rplotn.com

<Needles>  I would like to thank everyone who are helping us with the Greensburg project.  I know that everyone is busy with their summer projects, but if you could just take a few minutes a day and start on a quilt it sure would help us out.  10-20 minutes a day for a week or so would have a nice quilt done for someone who really will need it.
