Over the years, and continuing on today, one of the projects that keeps the RPLOTN ladies together is making quilts for those who need the comfort and support. Sometimes the support is for each other, sometimes it is for charities and agencies who provide support for those in need. This page is to let the RPLOTN guild members know about the various projects that we support. It is also the place for us to let others know about projects we have been involved with in the past (hopefully the Gallery Photos will expand). Just send a note and pictures to the web support below. As a group, if there are several people working on such a project, let your area Charity Committee person know so they can report it at the General Meetings (it may bring more on board!!). Also, your Charity Committee person may be looking for an organization to be the recipient of our hard work - so chat up! Currently, (2004-5) the RPLOTN group has an official recipient of comfort quilts... Cystic Fibrosis. This was voted in at a General Meeting in 2004. Connecticut Children's Medical Center Quilts have been donated to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center too! The site http://www.ccmckids.org/ gives all kinds of information about the medical center and other various means of support. Quilts of Valor and Quilts of Valour - Canada! Quilt top makers and long arm quilters are getting together to make lap quilts for wounded soldiers. You can sign up in the U.S. at http://www.qovf.org . Quilts of Valor or "QoVs" are now being sent to Walter Reed, Brooke Army in San Antonio, the Naval Hospital in San Diego, Madigan Army Medical Center (Fort Lewis in Washington State) and to several people involved with Vets. There is even a place on the web page for you to make a choice of where and to whom you'd like to send your QoV. If you are interested in making a quilt top of the size minimum 50" X 60", you will be connected with a long-arm quilter to assist in finishing the project! Let your Regional Charity Girl know about it so we can keep track of our support! Pictures of the quilts can be added to our Gallery too! Smoky is now the one to contact for getting quilts to Canadian wounded soldiers. Email her at: QoV@AutomatedQuill.com (that's a "Q" - like Quilts and an "o" like OH or of! and a "V" like Valour). Twin sized bed quilts are always welcomed at Coyote
Hill. http://www.coyotehill.org/index.htm
Each child is given a quilt when they come to Coyote Hill to be their very
own. Many of the children there have never had anything 'all' their own
before. Most of the children stay until they graduate from high
school. When they do leave, the quilt goes with them Bell Center for Early Intervention The Bell Center for Early Intervention Programs (BCEIP) in Birmingham Alabama is dedicated to maximizing the potential of children birth to age three at risk for developmental delay. |
