A quilt for Colleen - 2006

RPLOTN Quilt made for Colleen/MT - summer 2006

A Quilt for Colleen/MT

As you are aware, Colleen/MT was in a car accident that took the life of her best friend Sandy.  Colleen was injured.

Colleen has been a member of this group since the beginning and was one of the people who helped put the group together.

We are made a quilt for Colleen. Blocks were collected and together and it was quilted.

We decided to make 6 1/2 unfinished blocks with a cream on cream background.  Colleen's favorite color  is purple, so the sashing for this quilt is shades of lavender/purple and lots of purple in the blocks.  We wanted to see moose blocks.  There are a few patterns out there, pieced, paper pieced and appliquéd. We did not restrict it to moose.  For those who don't know Colleen, she lives in the state of Montana and loves the outdoors and animals.  We thought other blocks could include bears, dear, eagles, rabbits and such.

Colleen received her quilt in September of 2006.... and she wrote:

Good morning!  Just received a lovely quilt in the mail...remember, we are
at the end of the Pony's trail in Kalispell!!!  What a lovely surprise...you
ladies are so thoughtful!  I laughed at all the purple moose (or is that
meeses???  LOL) and the bear!  We had a bear in the yard on Paul's birthday
and our daughter was here...she HATES bears!  Even more then me.

I've had a very rough August and September handling the trauma of it all.
My body seems to be healing well enough but the emotional part has finally
hit me.  It's going to take a good long time for me to work this whole thing
through.  Never before have I had someone killed across me and then have to
save myself.  I work through it as it comes crashing down on me because I
know if I don't, it will just come out of me in another form farther down
the pike...maybe in the form of cancer, or ulcers, or whatever.  So, I'm
keeping a very low profile and just letting nature take its course.  Time
will heal.  I think the added deaths of neighbors and friends hasn't helped
in the healing process either.  But life travels on.

Thanks again for remembering and thinking of me!!!  Tell the gals hello,
please...I seldom turn on the puter anymore.  I've continued at Teens N
Crisis in support of Sandy's recovering daughter and I've been doing a lot
of canning from Paul's big garden.  One Day At A Time...that's how I'm
handling it all.  This experience has taken the stuffing out of me for
awhile.  I'll appreciate your prayers!

Hugs,
Colleen/MT

LINKS with Montana...

Where is Montana and what does it have to offer???  http://visitmt.com/

The Western Meadowlark is the official Bird of Montana..

The Bitterroot (Lewisia rediviva) is the state flower:

The State Tree... Ponderosa pine Pinaceae Pinus ponderosa

The state Flag:

With the detail of the state seal ....under the word "Montana", on a blue field, is the state seal. The seal shows some of Montana's beautiful scenery and tells what people were doing in pioneer times. The pick, shovel and plow represent mining and farming. In the background a sun rises over mountains, forests and the Great Falls of the Missouri river. A ribbon contains the state motto "Gold and Silver".
