What do quilters do in times of need ???..... - - - They make QUILTS !!! And that is what we need to do..... The RPLOTN board has talked it over and we want to make quilts for the people of Greensburg, KS where a tornado devastated the town at the beginning of May this year.. That storm destroyed 95% of their town. And now is the time for us to help with what we do best !!!
MAKE and PROVIDE COMFORT QUILTS !!
Please join in and make quilts for this worthwhile project. I have spoken to a fellow quilter in Greensburg and she says they can use these and they would be so much appreciated..... Our goal is to have at least 50 quilts ready to deliver around the first of Sept. My husband has agreed to drive me to Greensburg to deliver them...and of course it would be wonderful to have some of the RPLOTN members present when we give these to the people of Greensburg.
This project will also bring our guild closer together knowing we are all working on a common project for a wonderful cause. So if each member could make at least one quilt.....or some blocks.....or donate some fabric......I believe we can achieve our goal and hopefully even surpass it to give to this community. We will also ask for donations from quilt shops and companies for backing fabric and batting. So team up with some friends.....and make blocks..... and quilts..... We would like to have full size quilts, twin size and some children's quilts too. We also may need volunteers to quilt these for us also....
Pieced quilts Flannel quilts Simple quilts Any quilt
.....we know they will all be made with love and comfort sewed into them and let these people know we are thinking of them and we want to help them in this small way.
Dr. Beth can do some long arm quilting on her HQ16; Needles and qD and Claudia are ready to receive completed quilts, Claudia will also be able to do some long arm quilting.
Remember when you email the ladies regarding the Greensburg project, to put something like Quilts - Greensburg in the Subject line of the email so it will grab their attention!
Thank you,
Claudia, Pres. of RPLOTN
