BONANZA CHARITY JOINT AND NECK PILLOWS

 this project sponsored by... GLENDA!!

The Neckroll Pillow and the Joint Relief Pillow are used to relieve stress and strains of injured and/or painful joints.  I was offered a couple while in the hospital with my broken leg and arm.  They were very comforting.  After my dismissal from the hospital, I made up two dozen of them, in the name of RPLOTN, and they were gratefully received.  They are easy and fast to make….and are good projects for using left-over stash fabrics….spare blocks etc.

NECKROLL PILLOW

Poly-fil low loft batting 45” by 60”

Fabric 30” x 48”

Small piece of ribbon, lace or trim.

Safety pins (to hold)

On the long side of the fabric, press under 1 inch.  Turn under the short edges, press under 9 inches.

Place ROLL of batting crosswise in the center of the fabric.  Wrap and roll the fabric around the batting.  Pin with safety pins just to hold while closing the ends.  Tie and wrap about ½ yard of ribbon (lace, trim) to close.  Remove safety pins.

JOINT COMFORT PILLOW

Poly-fil (bulk to stuff pillow)

2 10-1/2 inch Pieced Block or Flannel

Blocks can be assorted….any pattern….or plain fabrics.  Your choice.  I preferred using 2 pieced blocks of different patterns.

Stack two blocks, wrong sides out.  Sew ¼ inch seam around three sides…Fourth side stitch  part way, leaving an opening large enough for your hand to stuff the filler.  Turn right side out, press.  Fill with poly-fil pillow stuffing, making sure the corners are firm..  Continue stuffing until they are firm, but not tight.  Close opening with zig zag stitch or hand whip stitch.
